NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS

It's easy to see why Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, is also one of the most popular ports in the Caribbean: picture an idyllic place with stretches of perfect white-sand beaches, gracefully swaying coconut palms offering oases of shade, and warm, crystal-clear waters revealing the secrets of incredible multi-colored marine life. ST. THOMAS, USVI

Pirates once roamed the alleys of this beautiful island, which is today besieged by a treasure trove of shopping options. SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

Historic San Juan, once nothing more than cobblestone streets and the distinctive architecture of the Spanish who founded it, is now a modern world capital. Among the peaceful shaded courtyards and commanding colonial fortresses of El Morro and San Cristobal, you'll find a cosmopolitan city of wide boulevards, lively cafes, highly regarded galleries and designer boutiques. GRAND TURK

Grand Turk is the largest of the Turks Islands, named after an indigenous cactus that actually looks like it's wearing a Turkish fez. With a population of less than 4,000, the island has plenty of room to relax, swim, dive or fish, and just the weather for doing it; the average temperature ranges from 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit and there are around 350 days of sunshine per year .

One of the main draws is diving, and Grand Turk's protected coral reef, which drops to 8,000 feet, is even close enough to shore for beach dives. You'll also find many Colonial-style buildings and ruins, along with The Turks and Caicos National Museum, not to mention the Grand Turk Cruise Center featuring the Flow Rider, Margaritaville and lots of great shop
